WHAT IS LEARNING MATH ALL ABOUT?
Syllabus
(Chapters 1 to 6 in textbook) We will be starting by exploring the ways in which we usually solve several equations at once and then learn how to use matrices and linear transformations to do that, and the properties of determinants that are key to understanding matrices and transformations. Finally we will see how the more abstract setting of vector spaces will help us understand matrices and transformations deeper, providing more powerful tools to solving systems of equations.
SOLUTIONS FOR ALL QUIZZES AND TESTS from SPRING 2014

Quizzes, Tests, and grading
In this course we will try to do many examples and problems. Example problems will be worked out in every class. You will be expected to work on them during class and do other recommended problems at home, by yourself or with your study group. There will also be practice assignments. It is highly recommended that you form a study group and meet with students in your study group atleast once a week.
There will be quizzes almost every week, given IN CLASS at the end of the lecture. The quiz problems will be similar to the ones worked out in class. The total points out of all the quizzes will count to 40% of the final grade. There will be 8 or more quizzes and the best 7 scores will be counted towards final grade.
There will be 3 tests (also IN CLASS) and the best three will count towards final grade. No make-ups unless in a serious emergency.Test dates will be posted at least two weeks in advance on UPDATE page
Writing only answers in test, will fetch only small amount of credit. Please always explain your work and present solutions step by step. This will also help you to get partial credit even if answer is wrong.
Grading:
Total: 500 points (Quizzes: 200, Tests: 200, Final: 100 )
A: 450-500
B: 400-449
C: 350-399
