Homeworks, Tests, and grading

In this course we will try to do many examples and problems. Practice problems will be given every day. It is your responsibility to be aware of them, either by attending class or by talking to students in your study group or by checking this web-site. It is highly recommended that you meet with students in your study group atleast once a week. The practice problems will help you to prepare for quizzes, which will be given about once in 4 classes. They are crucial in understanding the material, keeping up-to-date with the class, and also in preparing for the tests. Each quiz is worth 20 points (usually). Some may have more problems (and points) than others. The total points out of all the quizzes will count to 100/500 of the final grade. (Anything more than 100 is extra credit. We will probably have 5 to 7 quizzes)

There will be one midterm worth 100 and a final exam worth 200 will count towards final grade. No make-ups unless in a serious emergency.

There will also be a project worth 100 points. You will be assigned a problem to research on and perhaps do some computations or work out some examples.
Grading:
Total: 500 points (Quizzes: 100, Midterm: 100, Project 100, Final: 200 )
A: 450-500
B: 400-449
C: 350-399
D: 300-349
F: Below 300
