Homeworks, Tests, and grading

In this course we will try to do many examples and problems. Homework problems will be given every class. It is your responsibility to be aware of them, either by attending class or by talking to students in your study group or by checking this web-site. It is highly recommended that you meet with students in your study group atleast once a week. The solutions to problems must be given to me anytime before the day that homework set is due, but no late homeworks will be accepted. It is your responsibility to be aware of the homework problems and the due date. You can collaborate with other students and also talk to me during office hours. The homeworks, while easier to get points for, should not be taken lightly. They are crucial in understanding the material, keeping up-to-date with the class, and also in preparing for the tests. Each homework is worth 20 points (usually). Some homeworks may have more problems than others. The total points out of all the homeworks will count to 100/500 of the final grade. (Anything more than 100 is extra credit. We will probably have 7 or 8 homeworks)

There will be 3 tests and the best 2 will count towards final grade. No make-ups unless in a serious emergency.

Total: 500 points (HW: 100, Tests: 200, Final: 200 )
A: 450-500
B: 400-449
C: 350-399
D: 300-349
F: Below 300
